Patagonian Icefield Reasearch Program 2021
Grey Glacier, Torres del Paine National Park, Chile
The first PIRP expedition took place in 2021. The lessons learned and students' insights were instrumental in shaping the current PIRP program. Focused only on education and without much infrastructure, we enjoyed five days at Grey Glacier.
We were in new terrain and had to pick a campsite on the west side of Grey Glacier, figure out the best routes to carry the loads and explore the access to the glacier. We were surprised at every corner with new landscapes and teaching opportunities; the exploration was equally exciting to the students and staff.
