We’re excited to announce that the full team for PIRP 2025 is now confirmed! The first steps of our journey have already begun — connecting virtually, sharing ideas, selecting projects, and starting the meticulous planning that will guide us through this incredible expedition.
At PIRP, we know that planning is the backbone of every successful expedition. In the unpredictable and often extreme environment of Patagonia, thorough preparation is not optional — it’s what keeps us safe, efficient, and united as a team.
History shows us why this matters. During his legendary Antarctic expedition, Ernest Shackleton wrote extensively about preparation and how it allowed his team to adapt and survive when circumstances went sideways. For us, planning isn’t just about making checklists — it’s about building the resilience and adaptability that true exploration requires.
Every conversation we have now — from gear discussions to project logistics and safety protocols — ensures that no “loose screws” are left behind (and that we don’t forget our heads in the process!). Planning allows us to:
Anticipate challenges and create strategies to deal with the unexpected.
Build trust and communication among the team before we even meet in person.
Focus on the experience and the science once we step onto the ice, knowing that the groundwork is solid.
For us, a well-prepared team is a strong team. And while we can’t control Patagonian weather, we can control how ready we are to face it together.
Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing updates, stories, and behind-the-scenes glimpses as the countdown to Patagonia continues.
