The 2024 Patagonian Icefields Research Program expedition was a great success and a thrilling adventure. We had a highly international team of ten students, five volunteer faculty members, two assistants and one mountain guide from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Peru, Russia, Switzerland, and Taiwan.

We did a lot of science, exploration and bushwhacking. The terrain was challenging, but our team was up to the challenge. We did many kilometres of GPR, flew our UAV all over the glacier, installed a dozen ablation stakes, measured river discharge and sediment transport, sampled microbial communities, mapped the glacial geomorphology, and installed cameras, a GNSS base and a seismometer. And above all, we had a lot of fun and built a fantastic team.

Here is a short trailer of the expedition made by our cameraman and photographer, David Cossio.

Our amazing team before leaving Bernal Glacier.
